About Brazos County, Texas
Brazos County is located in western Texas and its population is approaching 200,000 spread over 591 square miles (of which almost 6 are water). The county was formed in 1841 and was named for Brazos River.
The seat is Bryan, population over 76,000, but this city borders College Station, which has a population of over 100,000. College Station is the site of the main Texas A&M University System, which employs some 19,000 individuals. College Station was named by Money magazine in 2006 as the most educated city in Texas and the eleventh most educated city in the country. Bryan is also notable for a “Gang Safety Zone” started in 2010 and since studied by much larger cities such as Los Angeles and Houston.
