About Grayson County, Texas
Grayson County is located in the north east of Texas and has a population of approximately 121,000. It was founded in 1846 and named after Peter Wagener Grayson, attorney general of the Republic of Texas. According to the 10 April 2009 issue of Lone Star Outdoor News, Grayson County is the only county in Texas where deer may be hunted with bows throughout the year.
The county seat is Sherman, population a little under 40,000 and named after General Sidney Sherman from the Texas Revolution. Sherman was originally located at the centre of the county but was moved three miles east in 1848. Another notable city is Denison, the birthplace of Dwight D. Eisenhower and celebrated at the Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site.
