The county is named after the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836: this battle secured Texas’ independence from Mexico. The new and current courthouse was rebuilt in 1918 and much of the town’s businesses relocated to be close to the new courthouse. Today, Coldspring is known for having twenty five golf courses around the city.
