About Titus County, Texas
Titus County is located in the north east corner of Texas and has a population of over 32,000 across 426 square miles although 20 of these consist of water. It is named after Andrew Jackson Titus, an early settler of the region. The county was sounded in 1846 and the seat is Mount Pleasant, which houses approximately half of the county’s population.
Mount Pleasant was founded 1848 designed as the county seat. The city is notable for the 1895 County Courthouse, which survived a fire in the 1960s (in which all county records were destroyed) and stands to this day.
